2014 Acura MDX Oil Change

It is super easy to change the engine oil for a 2014 Acura MDX. You don’t even need to jack up the car. I have done it in under 20 minutes from start to end.

Here is what you need:

  1. 5.7 quarts of 0W-20 motor oil. The best way to get it is to buy a case of 6 quarts from Costco. You can get the fully synthetic type for less than $25 when it’s on sale.
  2. An Oil filter. I use Mobil 1 M1-110A from Amazon. $14
  3. 14mm Crush Washer. You can get from Amazon as well. $0.50

Here is how you can do it.

  1. You use a 14mm socket to open the drain bolt.
  2. Let the oil drain. This should take just a few minutes.
  3. Use your hand to reach to the oil filter and twist if off. This step should be doable by hand, with no tool needed.
  4. Install a new oil filter. You should use a bit of new oil to lubricate the rubber ring on the oil filter can.
  5. Install the new crush washer and use the socket to tighten the drain bolt.
  6. Add precisely 5.7 quarts of oil from the oil cap.

Done!

If you go to a dealer, the cost will be around $125 cash, plus the time you drive to and from the dealership or mechanic shop. Doing this DIY, it’s totally easy. It will save you time and money. The best part is that you will feel very good after you get your hands dirty and are able to service you own car.
